Annabel Veysey featured on A Taste of Financial Planning

Written By Annabel Veysey

MPM founder and Managing Director, Annabel Veysey, was a guest on A Taste of Financial Planning, the podcast hosted by financial planners Sarah Steele and Dennis Hall, alongside Dr Katie McBride of Shift Happens. Shift Happens is a network Annabel co-founded for people navigating change in their working lives, which is partly why the discussion kept returning to the strains that build quietly alongside a career, something every consultant building their own private practice will recognise.

The episode explored the pressures facing busy professionals, including consultants running their own private practices, and the role of well-designed support in protecting their time, focus and clinical judgement.

Behind every private consultant sits a substantial administrative and organisational load: patient correspondence, billing, referrals, diary management and the constant stream of life and practice admin that never switches off. Left unmanaged, that load pulls clinicians away from the work only they can do - caring for patients.

This is the gap MPM was built to fill. As a UK virtual medical PA service, MPM provides experienced medical secretaries and PAs to private consultants across more than twenty specialties, with support designed around the realities of private practice rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Much of the episode explored a question that is becoming increasingly relevant to healthcare: where does AI help, and where does human judgement remain essential? It's a principle central to everything MPM does. MPM operates a Human-in-the-Loop model, certified by The Veysey Standard™, in which technology assists the work but trained human judgement remains accountable for it - a distinction that matters enormously in a clinical and medico-legal context.

The discussion also moved into more human territory: overwhelm, the invisible load so many capable people carry, and how rarely that overwhelm is a personal failing rather than a sign that the systems around us were never built for real, full lives.

As Annabel reflected during the recording:

"It's not a you problem. It's a system problem."

The goal, she explained, is always to build support around the person - not to expect the person to absorb a broken system.
